Severe Air Pollution in South Korea

2017062901505_0 A social issue which concerns me is the seriousness of air pollution in South Korea. It is pretty common that people living in South Korea feel hard to breathe, wear masks and hesitate to go outside because of the fine dust. Just a few years ago, the air quality was fine, but nowadays, the air quality is ‘bad’ or ‘danger’ in a half of a week. Fine dust causes severe diseases such as celebral stroke, chronic lung disease and lung cancer as Harvard students write in their research. In addition, High fine dust levels have been found to increase the risk of angina, according to the new study. There are domestic and external factors causing fine dust in South Korea. China has the most serious air quality in the world. In Shandong region, it is abundant of coal so there are hundreds of power plants and factories. As a result, the fine dust including heavy metals is flown into South Korea. Many people think these serious air quality problems are mostly due to China. However, 2018-06-17 01;46;55according to Hankyoreh, the cause of fine dust is more than a half due to domestic pollution and the rest to External factors. I agree that the government should focus on the domestic factors to solve it. First, Government should reduce the amount of coal-fired power plants and replace them with eco-friendly ones. Secondly, proper regulation of car purchasing and using is necessary. Encouraging people to use public transport is important as well.

The LORDLY Mansion : My Dream House

house

I’d like to build a stately mansion in Ilsan. I had lived in Ilsan for five years and it is fine to live in. I’d like to build a three-storey-house for my wife and my child in the future. It would have three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, two bathrooms and a music studio. I like playing the music so I want to have my own studio in my house. It must be soundproof. I think it would cost more than a billion won. I would finance my home with my wife. Most of it would be made of cement and some parts would be made of wood for decoration. My best friend is an architect so I want him to build my house. I want to build my house as simple as possible. I don’t like something fancy or colorful. I would paint it black and white but I would paint colorfully for my child’s room. The floor would be made of eco-friendly PVC flooring.

house2.jpgThe living room would be in the first floor and the ceiling of it would be high like a duplex so that I could see the living room at the upper floor. I want to have a small garden just in front of my house. So I can play with my child in the garden and we could have a barbeque party outside. Most of Korean houses are apartment. I’ve lived for ten years in the apartment. Waiting for elevator is my pet peeve, and inter-floor noises make me be sick and tired of living in the apartment. That’s why I want to live in the independent three-storey-house.

The video is some music studio design ideas I want to make.

My Dream Vacation To Eastern Europe

I would like to  travel to Eastern Europe, especially the Czech Republic an Croatia. I chose these countries because of the affordable cost of travel there. I have been to the Western Europe, and everything was so expensive. However, in Eastern Europe, the prices are much cheaper. The best time to visit is from May to June. Although some activities or attractions may be closed during this time, prices are much cheaper than in summer months, and it is less crowded. I don’t want to travel in crowded places. Furthermore, in summer, from July to August, it is hot and dry but it is more temperate in May and June. First, I would like to visit the Beer Museum located in Prague, Czech Republic. I can see how to make beer, many sample different kinds of beers and I can drink. In Prague, Every beer is less than a thousand won as well. I would go sky-diving there as well. After traveling the Czech Republic, I would go to Croatia. I would visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park. It is a background of the movie ‘Avatar’. I would try eating ‘polenta’. It is a Croatian traditional bread made of potatos and corns.  I would go with my best friend who have been to Europe once with me. I would travel about four weeks, and I think it would cost about five million won.

I Can’t Live Without My Desktop

computer

I CANNOT live without my desktop. It is my first one bought by myself. It was one of my dreams to have my own computer. In order to buy this, I earned money for two months. Without TV, I can live. However, without my computer, I cannot live. . At first, I search the internet. I watch the news everymorning, do some assignments and enjoy shopping online. Secondly, I play computer games. I bought what high-quality graphic games be available to play. Before I bought this, I had to go to PC room to play computer games, but now, I can play at home anytime. Sometimes I regret not to buy a laptop instead of the desktop. It is much more useful when studying at university because it is mobile. However, it’s screen size is smaller than the desktop and it is hard to play games with a laptop so now I’m definitely enjoying using this. Here is some links, the first one is the game which I’m interested in, and the second one is a site which was helpful when I tried to buy a good desktop.

My Classmate, Shin,Yong-woo

This week I spoke with Shin,Yong-woo, and I found him to be diligent. He is twenty four years old. He is now living in a one-room-apartment near the campus, but his hometown is Incheon. His major is English Literature, and he is a sophomore now. He chose his major because he likes to read some literature written in English, and he wants to learn more about English to be a talented translator. He has not joined any social clubs at university. He just likes playing games, watching movies and exercising in his room. I think he likes to be alone. He reentered university this year after finishing his military service and having a rest for six months. He had a great experience in the Army. He met different kinds of people there. He has no girlfriend. He doesn’t like drinking alcohol , but it seems that he can drink much but he just doesn’t like its taste. He chose his worst memory was his twenty-one-month Army life. He said that is because it was so difficult and tired for him to stay with people who have much different character. I interviewed him this week, and it seems that he has such a different experience and character from me. I had a good time in the army, I love some active things like playing soccer, and I like drinking alcohol. However, I’m pretty sure that he is a good guy because he answered and asked me questions so kindly when I asked him. It was such a nice time interviewing him.

Wanna know more about him? Here’s his blog 🙂  https://shinyongwoo.wordpress.com/

What Else Do You Know About Gimpo?

gimpo airport

My hometown is Gimpo , which is near Incheon and Seoul. If you have gone abroad from Korea or have visited Korea from another country, you might know Gimpo because of the Gimpo International Airport, but WHAT ELSE do you know about Gimpo? I’ll introduce three interesting things about my hometown, Gimpo to you. Actually, Gimpo International Airport is NOT located in Gimpo. It is located in Gangseo, Seoul. It had been located in Yangseo, Gimpo. However, as some parts of Gimpo including Yangseo were united to Seoul, Gimpo International Airport became excluded from Gimpo. Its name is still called Gimpo now. I often use Gimpo International Airport when I travel to Jeju-island. It’s smaller than Incheon International Airport but it is comfortable and clean.

There are some famous specialities in Gimpo. Tongjin is in the north of Gimpo and it is close to North Korea so the area’s undeveloped and natural. It is a fertile ground for planting crops. Grapes, rice and ginseng are planted in this area. They are delicious and unpolluted so many people and restaurants prefer these to crops of other areas. The Energin, the ginseng rice beer, was invented and it is also famous drink of Gimpo. The picture on a left-down side is Gimpo Gold Rice, the famous rice in Gimpo. My father is a CEO of a company producing it.

cafe There is the finest, most popular milk tea café in Haseong,Gimpo. Its name is Café-Jinjungsung. The baristas make fresh and tasty coffee, drinks made of fruits of the season and their patent fresh milk tea. More than 500 people visit there though it is located far away from downtown. Its popularity spread through SNS, so they opened some chain store in Seoul. It was actually located in Janggidong which is so close to my home. I really loved to visit and drink there so I visited twice a week.  However, it moved to Haseong, far from my home. I’m so sad but still hope to visit there.

Welcome! This Is Kooniper.

‘KOOniper’ is my online-game nickname. My name is KOO,Hyeong-mo. I’m twenty four years old. I’m a sophomore in Korea University,Sejong. My major is Management Information Systems. I like doing things online. I like talking with other people, playing games and searching some useful information on the internet. That’s why I chose my major, and I hope to study more about IT. I’m also an energetic person. I love hanging out with friends outside, playing bowlings, playing soccer and playing the piano and the drums. I like a kind of things athletic and communicational. I try going to travel when I have leisure time. The best memory of my life was traveling to Europe with my best friend. It was my first time leaving my home for a long time. I made money and planned three-week-trip by myself. Barcelona was the best city ever although the weather was too hot. I was thrilled seeing the architectures ‘Sagrada Familia’ and ‘Casa Mila’ built by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. Now I’m planning to go to Vietnam in winter this year.
